Photocatalytic technology is an innovative approach that uses solar energy to activate the treatment surface. This generates a series of chemical degradation processes that can be exploited in countless applications.

The advantage of MetalOx coating is the possibility of combining the photocatalytic features with the limited thickness typical of PVD coatings, so it can be applied to metals, ceramics, and glass.

Our photocatalytic coating is used in the air purification field, achieving around 50% abatement of gas pollutants compared to the concentrations normally found in indoor environments. Coating as little as 15% of a surface with MetalOx also creates marked antibacterial properties, making it useful for surgical operating theatres and other areas that require high standards of cleanliness and sanitation.

It can also be used for purifying waste water containing organic industrial waste. MetalOx coating has been proven to degrade common organic colours, along with phenols and other classes of chemical compound pollutants. Another vital use for our technology is in research and development. There are countless studies in the literature investigating the reactions catalysed by TiO2, the base material of our coating, which can be exploited for laboratory-scale projects or the industrialization of new processes.
